How To Make Grandma’s Tamales
Now we are going to make grandma’s tamales that I was raised up helping her.
When you have a holiday like Christmas that is the night we get all the family
and friends together to celebrate the love she wanted to give to our family and friends, she was so kind in giving.
Tamales are a wonderful food made of various fillings inside a corn masa shell.
The whole thing is steamed while wrapped inside a corn husk. When it is done,
you have a delicious traditional Mexican dish. The great thing about tamales is
you can make them savory or sweet. Fill them with meat, vegetables,
or sweet fruit filling. You will love all the variations.
It may take some practice to perfect your tamales, but once you have got it
mastered, you will be able to make large batches ahead of time and freeze them
until you need them. Since tamales are a big undertaking, it was common for
families to get together to make large quantities.
If you like these tamales filled with apples, try experimenting a with
other fruit fillings. You should also try savory versions to make for your meal.

I loved this book. I am not Mexican and my husband is and has always asked me to learn how to make tamales. I can't tell you how many recipes I have tried over the years but none of them have ever turned out right. I have pretty much got down solid the Spanish Rice, Frijoles, Enchiladas and a few more other dishes. This is the first recipe for Tamales that has turned out and my husband says that they are close to his Grandmothers. They are moist yet firm and we love them.
