To call this a "year worth of art lessons" is laughable. There are only 2 lessons written up for each month. Even if you only have art once a week, this wouldn't be enough. Don't waste money on this book as the advice was common and the lessons were more crafts than art.Product details

Love the ideas, love the format, love that it is easy to follow with kindergartners. Looking forward to more in the series.
This book contains a nice collection of art lessons that are age appropriate for Kindergarten children. I have even used them with Pre-K kids, and have adapted them into more complex lessons for 1st - 3rd grade classes. Thank you for thoughtful and practical lessons.
I have positive comments and a few critique comments
First, it's wonderful to inspire kindergarten teachers to do art at LEAST once a week, so perhaps a book with 64 pages will fill an entire school year in kindergarten. I would like to see art every day, and in that case, this wouldn't fill the year, but most teachers wouldn't do art that often anyway. Second, as a comparison, I am an author of art books, and I was surprised to see the price over $20 for a short book. The books I write are $18.95 and have 144+ pages, and usually about 100-150 art projects, even the one I did in full color. Third, I'm thrilled to see a book that will bring art to children. The more kids can create and make decisions and choices within their art explorations, the better off they will be in all areas of education. And --- I love the art on the cover! I hope the book finds success in the kindergarten classroom, where art has virtually disappeared and is replaced by academics that used to be reserved for grade one.
The book kicks off with a quick-read intro to teaching art to young children that seems to cover all the basic (and not-so-basic) issues that will be encountered. The suggested monthly "schedule" of projects makes so much sense. And then the outline form within each month is so user friendly -- no need to reinvent the wheel ... follow this proven lesson plan and you'll be golden!
I also really like the teaching style this art teacher encourages. While nurturing children's creative spirits, this teacher seems to know how to maintain control of the class! Most children will thrive in this environment!
This book is written for kindergarten teachers to integrate art into their very full 1/2 day curriculum. I wish that art could be taught everyday! I like how the lessons are art lessons with a lot of solutions using imagination and lots of different art supplies. The lessons reflect the seasons and the full color pictures are wonderful.
I really wanted to like this book. I'm an art teacher at an elementary school and I'm always looking for new lesson ideas. A book focused specifically on kindergarten students is a great idea. My problem with this book is in the title - a year of kindergarten art lessons. These lessons are wonderful for the first two months (maybe) but there really isn't enough to fill an entire school year. Perhaps the lessons could be used as beginning lessons in a series of units that span the year.
I would recommend this book to a new teacher or a regular classroom teacher who wants to incorporate art into their curriculum. The more experienced elementary art teacher will not find anything new in this book.
